BALMUDA Limited Warranty and Repair Policy (Sailing Lantern)

1. Limited Warranty 

BALMUDA warrants the Product to be free from material defects in materials and workmanship under normal personal use for a period of Four (4) years from the date of purchase.

During the warranty period, BALMUDA will, at its discretion: 
1. Provide complimentary repair services; or 
2. Replace the defective product with a model of like kind and quality (color may differ), or with a model of equivalent value if the original is unavailable; or 
3. If repair or replacement is not reasonably feasible, offer a pro-rata refund of the purchase price. 
 
Used or 'open-box' products are excluded. 

1.1 Battery and Consumables Policy 

• Battery: One (1) free replacement if capacity falls below the specified threshold during the warranty period. 
• Consumables (cover, LED, lanyard): One (1) free replacement during the warranty period; subsequent replacements will be at the owner’s cost. 
*Thresholds and the definition of consumables follow the latest product specifications or official BALMUDA documentation.* 

2. Warranty Period 

The original warranty period is Four (4) years from the date of purchase. The warranty period applies regardless of use frequency and does not pause or reset. 

3. Exclusions 

This Warranty does not apply in the following cases (except as provided in 1.1 Battery and Consumables Policy): 
- Abuse, misuse, excessive wear, or bad-faith claims. 
- Unauthorized repairs or modifications. 
- Use of non-BALMUDA accessories or chargers and cables not meeting recommended specifications.
- Operation or storage in extreme conditions (heat, cold, humidity, salt). 
- Accidents, fire, flood, lightning, earthquake, or other force majeure. 
- Use for commercial or non-personal purposes. 
- Cosmetic or surface damage (scratches, scuffs, discoloration). 
- Improper storage leading to condensation or mold. 
 
⚠️ Charging Note: Damage from overcharging, non-recommended chargers, improper voltage, or failure to recharge periodically is excluded. 
⚠️ Software/Connectivity Note: Third-party software issues and local network connectivity problems are excluded. 

4. Warranty Claims Process 

1. Contact BALMUDA Support and register the product. 
2. Provide proof of purchase. 
3. Use the prepaid shipping label provided by BALMUDA. 
 
If covered, repairs/replacements are returned at no cost. If not, an estimate will be provided for approval before proceeding with paid repair. 

5. Warranty Period After Repair/Replacement 

Repaired or replaced products remain covered under the original warranty period (no reset or extension). 

6. Abandonment 

If 60 days pass after a repair completion notice, estimate, or final notice without customer response, the product may be deemed abandoned and disposed of at BALMUDA’s discretion. 

7. Discounted Replacement 

If outside warranty or excluded, BALMUDA may offer a discounted replacement. The replacement carries a new 4-year warranty. 

8. Data & Privacy 

BALMUDA is not responsible for loss of data or settings during repair. Customers should back up any data beforehand. 

9. Liability Limitation 

BALMUDA’s liability is limited to the purchase price of the product. BALMUDA is not liable for incidental, indirect, or consequential damages. 

10. Governing Law & Arbitration 

This Policy is governed by the laws of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court of Japan. 

11. Modifications & Severability 

This Policy may be modified at any time; the version in effect when the claim is made applies. If any provision is invalid, the remainder remains enforceable.
